Great American Outdoor Show

We are in the final days of the Great American Outdoor Show in Harrisburg PA.  It has been a long week with some exhausting days.  Coordinating assistance, working with the event staff and organizing the display has caused anxiety, frustration and sapped me of much energy.  Although I’m happy to see it coming to an end I am even more joyous about the connections I have made and the countless people I have shared my message with.  The turnout and response from the attending crowd have made it all worth wild.  Nash and I will return home on Monday and I am excited to see my children.  I miss them very much and long to spend some time relaxing and just being near them.   Continue reading “Great American Outdoor Show”

Roadblocks and Detours

Hello friends,

I know it has been a while since I posted anything.  I don’t want you to think I have given up on this or you.  Unfortunately, the past couple of weeks since my last event have been really really rough.  I have received a quadruple nut slap, sorry but that’s the best way to describe it.

These different and overall unrelated issues really beat me down and discouraged the hell out of me.   So I had to spend some extra time just getting back to a state that is good for me before writing again.

On the good side, I have done some good work and these things that would Continue reading “Roadblocks and Detours”

Thoughts of the week

The holiday season is coming to an end and a new year is just around the corner.  This by far has been the toughest year I have ever faced.  Filled with loss and pain.  It has also been filled with growth and hope.

We have all experienced a major loss.  The first year of facing birthdays, holidays and anniversaries after the pain of losing someone close is always a tough one.  The grieving and painful realization of how different life is going to be without them.  Traditions may need to be altered and the family dynamic may be completely different.

Most of us have been prepared for these larger shakeups with the Continue reading “Thoughts of the week”

What’s the plan?

Well, I’ve been away from the keyboard for a couple of weeks.  I’ve been struggling with some things and doing some major work on myself.  I’ll put that on another blog, but right now I wanted to get back on and engage you all a bit.

I have added a map page to the site.  Raise your hand if you saw that already if so I thank you for being so attentive.  If not no worries, now you know though so go take a look.  These are the events I’m applying to for display space.  This will give you an idea about my travel schedule.  I hope to attend some smaller local fairs or events while traveling thru rural America.

I’ve been getting needed material from the non-profits I’m representing and gearing up for my 1st major event of 2018.  The Garden State Outdoor show in Continue reading “What’s the plan?”

UN-Gratefulness

Thanksgiving has just past and we have been bombarded by things to be grateful for.  It’s great to remember and

reflect on the blessings you have and I don’t want to take away from that.  I do however want to shake it up and talk about being ungrateful.  What are the consequences of being ungrateful?  Here are a few things that have come to light for me.

You will not be able to see the opportunities being offered to you:

When you are ungrateful, you constantly look at what others have and you

Why this journey, why this mission:

My story.

My name is Thomas Knapp. I’ve served 17 years in the United States Marine Corps (Jan 1993 – Sept 2013) and obtained the rank of Gunnery Sargent.  During those years, I served two tours in Iraq, in 2003 and 2004.  I have also served 11 years with my local police department holding a supervisor position and the rank of Sargent.  I was a member of the department SWAT team functioning as an operator and sniper.  I am proud of my service and worked hard to uphold high standards and lead those I was in charge of with dignity and respect.

I am also a father of three beautiful and awesome human beings.  Two sons Continue reading “Why this journey, why this mission:”

The Line of Departure:

In the Corps, we have a term “the Line of Departure”.  It refers to the starting point for an attack on an enemy position.  It’s your last chance to get your shit together or make changes before the attack kicks off.  Well, this weekend the line was crossed for me.  I had my first event as an ambassador to Mission 22 and The Weekly Fight.  I made my 1st assault on an enemy that has been viciously attacking me and so many of my brothers and sisters in uniform.

Saturday, Nov 11th, I attended the Jeeps in the Vineyard hosted by Grass Roots Jeep Club.  Although cold, the weather at Valenzano Family Winery was beautiful.  It was an amazing showing at this Veteran’s day event. Continue reading “The Line of Departure:”

First fundraising Event

Jeeps in the Vineyard:

I will be attending the annual event at Velenzano Winery in Shamong NJ.  This is their 9th year hosting the event and expect over 300 Jeeps in attendance.  It is designated to honor Veterans and show off Jeeps.  It’s said to be the biggest one day Jeep show in the North East.  So if you’re a Jeep lover this is an event for you.  Jeeps, American pride, and wine.   I will be in attendance with a table and some free Mission 22 swag.  I will also be providing information for The Weekly Fight.  This is my first event on a path to many more.

I have finally set up a Go Fund Me page.  All funds raised will go to support my trip via, fuel, tolls, some camping costs and event entry fees.  I will be looking to keep costs low and I am still actively seeking sponsorship in order to ensure a majority of donated funds go to these outstanding organizations and the programs they have in place.  I will supply further details in a followup blog and video.

Until then, hit the road, thank a vet and officer.

Semper-Fi & God Bless

Stretching Exercises

I will be out in Las Vegas this week for the SEMA and AAPEX shows.  Hoping to get some insight on my overlanding rig.   Networking and fact gathering is the agenda this week.

So I am leaving you with an entry from Science of the Mind monthly magazine.  The following comes from “Creative Mind and Success” 1st published in 1919.

Stretching Exercises:

Because We are limited is no reason why the Universe should have limitation.  Our limitation is only our unbelief; life can give us a big thing or a little thing.  When it gives us a little thing, it is not limited Continue reading “Stretching Exercises”
